properties to be set, and so should have an effect on xterm behavior unless
overridden by fontconfig settings.

The bug here is that system fontconfig settings are always overriding settings
from Xft X resources.

The upstream bug is https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=17722, but
upstream fontconfig does not install these problem files by default.

The problem only appears when the distribution installs the 10-* links in
/etc/fonts/conf.d/.
