You can find out which Device URI is used in Hardy in the file
/etc/cups/printers.conf
Does it work to manually setup your printer with the same DeviceURI in Intrepid?
Can you also post the output of the following steps on both Hardy and Intrepid:
1. Disconnect the parallel to usb cable.
2. Connect the parallel to usb cable.
3. Capture lshal and dmesg by running the following commands in a terminal:
$ lshal > ~/lshal.txt
$ dmesg > ~/dmesg.txt
4. Attach ~/lshal.txt and ~/dmesg.txt to the bug report.
