After installing Ubuntu 8.04 on my Lenovo 3000 N200 ESG sound didn't work.
To solve the problem I had to edit /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base and add at the end
of the file the following line:
options snd-hda-intel model=lenovo
Finally i saved the file and restarted the system to see the changes.
