sun-java5-plugin fails to install onto a vanilla Ubuntu 6.10 Desktop
system. A transcript demonstrating the error is "attached" below.
In particular, the lines
Setting up sun-java5-bin (1.5.0-08-0ubuntu1) ...
Error: could not find libjava.so
Error: could not find Java 2 Runtime Environment.
are significant.
