Public bug reported: I just installed Ubuntu 8.10 AMD64 alongside Windows XP. I then had problems with XP concerning a possible rootkit. Bothunter 1.0.2 determined a malware existed. I then attempted to recover C drive by using D drive which contains HP_Recovery (HP Pavilion a1228x). GRUB does not allow for recovery through D drive. I had to format and reinstall Windows XP via CDs. XP is running again of course but I did not reinstall Ubuntu until I am sure I can use D drive later on.
Also, I did set XP as default on reboot instead of Intrepid Ibex. ** Affects: grub (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Ubuntu 8.10-Desktop-AMD64 GRUB does not permit use of Windows XP Recovery Drive https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/311197 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
