Tried the patch from Paolo and it works great with the Dell D420 (intel 945GM gfx) on Edgy. Thx a lot Paolo!!
FWIW I attach Paolos patch as debdiff, so it's a bit easier to update the edgy pkg sources. Paolo: can you elaborate how dirty your fix is?
