I'm using Hardy on a Dell XPS M1330 laptop.
I burned a DVD with K3b. After burning, K3b said it couldn't verify the
ISO filesystem image size--weird. I tried to mount the disc and see if
it burned correctly, but nothing happened. I tried to eject the disc
from KDE, and nothing happened. I pressed the eject button on the
laptop, and the music I had playing started stuttering and the screen
froze for several seconds. Then the system resumed playing, but the
disc didn't eject. I tried running commands like:
eject
sudo eject
sudo eject scd0
etc.
And nothing happened. dmesg shows this:

Now it seems like the drive (or the kernel?) thinks that there is no
disc in the drive (medium not present). However, I assure you, the disc
is still in the drive.
This is bad. I'm going to have to reboot just to eject the disc. Now I
stopped using Windows years ago, and am a big Linux fan, and as much as
I hate to say it, even Windows wouldn't have this problem. :(
