I have a recent Ubuntu 8.10 install on a older Gigabyte GA7N400Pro with on-board RAID. IDE ports 1 & 2 are take by two DVD and two hard drives. When I add a third drive using the RAID IDE3 I get a similar error. Suddenly the GRUB loader cannot find the boot disk and dumps me into initramfs. If I disconnect the added disk, the system boots normally. This is not a dual boot system.
