Same for upgrade to 8.10 on SMP 64-bit. I have the USB mouse plugged in and the syslog show that same behavior of having the mouse connect and then disconnect intermittently. It can work with motion for about a few seconds, then shuts down for several.
One thing strange I noticed with the USB optical mouse that I am using is that the light changes behavior when the mouse is not working. The normal lighting behavior is that the red light is dim with no motion and switches immediately to bright when moved. After a short delay of non- motion, the light jumps back down to dim. Either during transitions between the working and non-working state (as reported in the bug), my optical light seems to *dim* smoothly from the bright-dim settings during non-motion. This is not always easy for me to catch in the act, but I only notice it when the mouse is having the trouble, though not every time the mouse has trouble. That is, the optical mouse can exhibit a smooth "dimming" behavior during non-motion that I had never seen before while acting buggy. During good operation, I see what I thought was the standard "jump" from bright to dim during non-motion. Perhaps this can help someone identify where the problem is. I can provide syslog data that is reported in previous posts, if that would help.
