Thank you for taking the for this report. The error message you quote
"... proxy server forbids..." means the proxy server you are forced to
use has locked down access to a port like 5050. This is not an issue in
Ubuntu or Pidgin but rather a security enforcement on your university
lan. Please talk back to your network administrator.
