I have experienced the follwoing: * install dvgrab * succesfully grab videos from a Canon HV30
* some days later, I got: [EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ sudo dvgrab -i [sudo] password for m: raw1394 - failed to get handle: No such file or directory. [EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ sudo mknod -m 666 /dev/raw1394 c 171 0 [EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ sudo dvgrab -i Error: no camera exists Somewhere I read about a user who just changed the PCI-plug for the card. This didn't help here either. lscpi gives: 03:01.0 FireWire (IEEE 1394): Texas Instruments TSB43AB23 IEEE-1394a-2000 Controller (PHY/Link) (prog-if 10) Subsystem: Electronic Design GmbH Device c100 Control: I/O- Mem+ BusMaster+ SpecCycle- MemWINV+ VGASnoop- ParErr- Stepping- SERR- FastB2B- DisINTx- Status: Cap+ 66MHz- UDF- FastB2B- ParErr- DEVSEL=medium >TAbort- <TAbort- <MAbort- >SERR- <PERR- INTx- Latency: 64 (750ns min, 1000ns max), Cache Line Size: 32 bytes Interrupt: pin A routed to IRQ 18 Region 0: Memory at febff800 (32-bit, non-prefetchable) [size=2K] Region 1: Memory at febf8000 (32-bit, non-prefetchable) [size=16K] Capabilities: <access denied> Kernel driver in use: ohci1394 Kernel modules: ohci1394 :( -- dvgrab, Error: no camera exists https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/298579 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
