I can confirm observing a similar situation with Intrepid 64-Bit. Hardware Configuration:- Intel Core 2 Quad Extreme Edition nVidia 8800GTX SATA HDDs & DVDs Creative Audigy 2 Pro etc
In watching the shutdown process, I believe that I observe the end of the X Windowing session as the screen clears to black but a cursor remains in the top left corner. Though this may not be correct, I suspect that this cursor is displaying in a VGA Mode display. At this point the only exit strategy is to hold down the power switch long enough to invoke a hardware shutdown. When returning, the system then has to rebuild or re-validate all my Ext-3 partitions [pretty much all of them] which are showing as being damaged [ perhaps to be expected]. I would be happy to provide log file dumps, etc, but would need guidance as to what material to gather. -- System Freezes on Shutdown https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/289814 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
