It has been awhile since I have been running Ubuntu on my computer. I did try once to install 8.10 from a live cd, but it had the same problem while installing, so I gave up. Since then, I have tried many distros, including Mandriva and Fedora. I currently am working on Arch Linux. I believe I actually had this lock-up in arch, but it hasn't happened since I upgraded the kernel in that OS.
However, when upgrading the kernel, it disabled my wireless card. After searching on the arch linux forums, I found another with my same wireless problem. As far as I have been able to tell, it appears my Intel 4965 N card driver is the cause of my kernel problem. I haven't found a work-around yet, only a way to force the wireless to turn on. I'm hoping a new wireless driver can be released, but in the meantime I'm gonna try and find my own work-around. So to answer your question, it is still an issue for me. I would love a clear fix to my problem, but in the meantime I will try to live with the problem. -- computer hard freeze https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/271543 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
