  after some update a couple of days ago, scim does not work. First I
  found shift-space didn't work and later it turns out
  
  ~$ ps -A | grep scim
  10517 ?        00:00:00 scim <defunct>
  10520 ?        00:00:00 scim-launcher
  10534 ?        00:00:00 scim-helper-man
  10535 ?        00:00:00 scim-panel-gtk
  10538 ?        00:00:00 scim-launcher
  
  With kill -9, I cannot kill scim. What is the problem and from where I
  (or we) should start?

+ WORKAROUND:
+ This "bug" has been solved by right clicking on an open terminal window and 
changing the "input method" to "system".
