OK, that sounds good. Is the upstream work you're mentioning their inclusion of libnss support (and by extension its smartcard support)? If so, AFAICS that doesn't allow using smartcards for wireless connections until wpasupplicant gets extended with libnss support, which I was under the impression was very far away. Any clarification would be helpful.
