+ Auto-update overwrote my grub menu.lst

** Description changed:

- The AutoUpdate feature asked claimed that it could not update some items
- and that I should start Synaptic Package manager and click "Mark all
- upgrades". I did so. The update proceeded normally, then asked for a
- reboot. Once I rebooted, there was NO SELECTION FOR WINDOWS XP in the
- grub boot screen.
+ The AutoUpdate feature came up with an error message and said that it
+ could not update all the required items. The message said to start
+ Synaptic Package manager and click "Mark all upgrades". I did so. The
+ update proceeded normally, then asked for a reboot. Once I rebooted,
+ only Ubuntu was available in the Grub menu list... my listing for
+ Windows XP was gone.

I had to go in and manually add an entry to Windows into the grub
- menu.lst.
+ menu.lst. The original menu list was still in the directory as a
+ backup file.

- This was disconcerting. For users who don't know how to do that, it
- would be a critical issue.
