I can confirm the bug described by Christoph Roeder. Flickering occurs when I scroll Pidgin Buddy List, Firefox Browser. Bug happens with XV-video output (i use Totem). My videocard is mobile NVidia 8600GT, notebook Acer 5920g, Ubuntu 8.10. Trying nvidia drivers: - 177.82 - 180.06 (beta driver) - flickering occurs only with Pidgin Buddy List. No results. Problem disappears when compiz disabled. Also I noticed that the problem disappears when I scroll window using scrolling wheel on my mouse.
