Public bug reported: Binary package hint: firefox-3.0
Sound was working fine. I installed some required plug-ins like flashplayer and shockwave. I am using Ubuntu 8.10. I tried to listen to an Internet radio but no sound. You know, I had to reinstall Ubuntu several times because after setting up the Internet connection and installing some updates, the network applet dissappeared and I was not able to access the Internet anymore. Now I am being told that there are some updates, and some of them are related to Firefox, but I am afraid of losing the connection again if I install them. I got an error message: "Phonon: The audio playback device HDA Intel (ALC888 Analog) does not work. Falling back to HDA Intel (ALC888 Digital). I don't know how to resolve this.
