Hey I tried the new script. It's a lot better, not perfect, but much much better, so thanks a lot for your work!
Here are the problems: – changing the brightness is not super responsive, totally usable, but not as quick as your previous version – the visual feedback doesn't quite work… it doesn't update quite right – gnome power manager doesn't seem to be aware of the brightness capability as the screen does not dim when the AC adapter is unplugged.
