Unchecking Sound does not help for me either, I can't find a workaround. istanbul 0.2.2-4, interpid, Intel(R) Core(TM)2 CPU. Attached is the output of istanbul --gst-debug-level=5 --gst-debug-no-color (gzipped). Recording starts around line 16155 and stops right at the end.
I can stop istanbul using ctrl-C while it is recording.
