I have a clean install of Jaunty alpha1 (not pre-alpha). I've also tested two virtualizations of Jaunty on Virtualbox, one using Intrepid as host and the other Jaunty as host. In neither of them system sound nor VLC sound work. It might be so that the sound problems differs for Jaunty installed via an upgrade from Intrepid.
