The first time I installed eMacs under ubuntu, I didn't use the install
process provided by ubuntu. And I didn't know where to look to run
eMacs (I din't expect it to be in the Applications list). The second
time that I installed it, I used ubuntu to install it. The second time,
it did show up in the applications list and I was able to run eMacs.
Both times, I was using ubuntu directly from the CD. I have not
installed ubuntu to a hard drive yet. This problem should be marked as
"Complete". Thank you for persisting in tracking down this problem.

Subject: [Bug 282222] Re: Emacs installed but not in Applications

Sorry, I have to revert that; the menu entries appeared at some point,
probably after a reboot.

@David K. C. Cole: do you still see this after a reboot?
