Somehow, not exactly sure how, I got this solved. After trying to get them to install several times, I finally got some prompt regarding doing a partial upgrade. I chose to do that when the prompt came up but during the process I was afraid that it was going to upgrade me from Gutsy to Hardy (which I did not want to do), so I canceled the upgrade process and then after that I think I rebooted and tried the download and install of the 3 HP printing updates thru Update Manager once again and that time they SEEMED to install just fine. In any case, they have not appeared as available updates in Update Manager since then.
