I think that the duplicate status is wrong because my problem has
nothing to do with alsa settings, as I should receive audio as long as
master is set to 100, pcm is set to 100, and front is set to 100. I am
not using the other audio ports.

Also, under Sound Events, Sound playback is set as "HDA Intel ALC883
Digital (ALSA)", while Music and Movies is set to "Autodetect". Changing
it to HDA Intel ALC883 Digital (ALSA) doesn't appear to give me sound,
though. :-/

Normally, I'd just say the entire sound system is fscked, except for the
simple fact that I get boot up sound [!].
