Francis, is this still a problem for you? Are you sure that the MSI PC54G3 uses the rt2500 chipset? Notice your lspci output says "RaLink Unknown device". I know that, for my rt2500-based card, lspci says something a little more specific - it mentions "rt2500", I believe. Note, some cards have varying chipsets, depending when/where you happen to buy the card (AFAIK).
