When I first commented on this bug report, I thought that this was some
type of kernel/driver bug. Apparently it's not. This message is
consistent with when my router seems to go down, as I found out when a
friend using Windows experienced a disconnect at the same time while
using my wireless connection.

My simple solution: use NetworkManager. I had disabled it as it was
buggy during the Intrepid RC releases, but now it works like a charm and
immediately reconnects me once the router becomes available again after
this error, as you can see below:
