Cool, the BIOS upgrade fixed it for me too!  I can now fully boot the
64-bit live CD all the way to the desktop.  Thanks, everybody!

Now, if I just could just get the integrated Ethernet working...  The
32-bit version of 8.10 works fine with the integrated Ethernet.  Well,
that's a different problem for another day.
