Additional note: At ubuntuforums I was recommended to test a live cd for the same bug, as the person who replied suspected that it may be a problem due to a faulty upgrade. I booted through Ubuntu (GNOME version) live cd and tried connecting to my phone via Bluetooth dongle. The problem remained as such.
