I'm having the same problem. Was running 8.4 flawlessly, but when I upgraded to 8.10 started getting random and frequent (every 30 min or more often) total system freezes, with blinking caps lock lights. I have a inspiron 1420 dual core. Memtest shows no problems.
Very depressed. My computer is useless and it is seriously stressing me out. I can't get work done.
