Try adding this section to your xorg.conf:
Section "ServerFlags"
Option "AutoAddDevices" "false"
EndSection
This did not completely eliminate the bug, but it reduced it's frequency
by at least half or better. It also fixed some strange keyboard issues I
was experiencing with vmware workstation.
