Ciao Leann
and thank you for your note.

I feel the bug was depending on the wi-fi alarm system which is
installed on my house in the country : by the way only Ubuntu had got
that problem not any other PC nor my same Samsung Q45 booted in Windows XP.

For avoiding the problem in Hardy I go switch my laptop in the bathroom,
where there is no alarm transmitter, then while the SSID is found and
connected I can move all a round the house.

I have tried the up-grade to the 8.10 but it was a DISASTER : no
wi-fi not even the icon, no ALSA speaker+microphone and more faults
that I had no time to face and check and preferred to reinstalled the 8.04.

I will try the Ibex as soon as I will have time to face the incognito of
it : I was really deluded and my trust on Ubuntu new release went really
down, next time I will be more careful on the up-grade ..... the
upgrade went KO and I had to install it from the ISO -CD then back
again with the ISO-CD 8.04 ..... all the personalizations and extra
added software had been LOST.

Is there a way to install any extra sw on the /home partition so all my
work won't be destroyed every time I have to reinstall from the live-cd ?

Thank you for your assistance.
Kindest regards
Danny
