Still seeing this on edgy; occasionally xmms (using alsa-output) stops playing and pops up this error (when changing song):
"Couldn't open audio" Please check that: [lists 3 possible reasons for problem] The soundcard is working properly and has done so for hours, days even; using xmms's alsa output; and no new program is started at that time, playing any sounds, blocking the soundcard, or otherwise interfering with audio (see below). Other programs don't have any trouble using the soundcard, when I start them for testing purposes at this time. The error, once triggered, will persist until xmms is restarted. *** when error happens; no output when grepping for dsp *** $ lsof | grep snd kicker 5947 user 14u CHR 116,7 9098 /dev/snd/controlC0 xmms 6119 user 15u CHR 116,7 9098 /dev/snd/controlC0 (The kicker process is volume control from "sound mixer" applet on the kde panel) ** Changed in: Ubuntu Sourcepackagename: None => xmms -- Unable to open audio https://launchpad.net/bugs/38903 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
