I have the same problem.

The less drastic workaround that I have is to wait for the popup, then
choose "Unmount" instead of a software or an action and you will be able
to use digikam after that for importing pictures.


The thing is, maybe "Unmount" should be in the action list. So you could say 
"always unmount" since using the "do nothing" action still interfere with 
digikam.
