The Ubuntu package must not be compiled with kdemultimedia support. To check for sure, try running
ldd `which tellico` | grep kcddb If Tellico was linked to the KCDDB library, you'll see some output. On my machine, I see libkcddb.so.1 => /opt/kde3/lib/libkcddb.so.1 As for the handbook, are you running under GNOME?
