Public bug reported: I have a Dell Inspiron 1200 with Xubuntu 8.10 installed. All updates installed.
When I use the keyboard function keys to change the screen brightness (Fn+up/down) GTK? freezes. Windows do not function properly neither do the menus. I have to kill X to fix the problem. Steps to reproduce: 1. Have Dell Inspiron 1200 with Xubuntu 8.10 installed. All updates installed. 2. Log into graphical environment XFCE. 3. On the keyboard hit Fn+Arrowup/Arrowdown to change screen brightness. 4. See XFCE freeze, basically becoming useless. 5. Kill X to start fresh. Expected outcome: Use Fn key combo to change screen brightness without causing failures in other system components or software. Side Note: Fn key combo for audio volume up/down does not cause problems. Although using Fn combo for audio does not show a graphical representation on screen as the screen brightness key combo does. ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Using Fn+arrow keys to change screen brightness causes gtk to fail https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/298278 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
