I have the same symtoms. Mouse click sometimes stops working. Alot of ALT+TAB sometimes gives it back. But usually i need to restart X server.
I also checked with xev and click are not seen in the output. This problem started after upgrade to ubuntu 8.10. I have 2 nvidia 7300 cards with 4 monitors (different sizes) using xinerama.
