I don't think it is NetworkManager related. I uninstalled nm and am using wicd for WLAN Management now, still the problem persists. I am using intrepid with kernel 2.6.27-7-generic though (haven't got any update notice yet).
Whenever there is load on the connection i get the "firmnware restarting" errors in dmesg and the WLAN Led flickers irregularly.
