Hi Richard, this is indeed not a fix for the problem but a work-around.
This is not a problem with kdebase but with some kde-applications. If you had kdebase installed, you would not have the problem. But i'm not sure if this is a problem at all. The amarok package for example suggests that you have either konqueror or www-browser installed.
