Public bug reported: I've just install Ubuntu around the 15/10/2008. I m totally new. I m not acquaint with complicate programming language and so on. In short I don't no much about computer or resolving problems about it. However I think this is a bug. I ll try to be as precise as i can.
As I just installed my new Ubuntu, I wanted to set my screen saver. Here is what did happen. I opened normally the window for the setting of screen saver, than start to try each screen saver by clicking on them name on the left side of the window. The funny thing is that when I clicked on the screen saver named "Antspotlight" (maybe the third one), in less then a wink, I lost the control of my mouse and the screen start to get to this amazing but totally anarchist geometrical graphics. Just after that amazing spectacle, the screen turn into the power safe mode, which from where you could try any way to get back to a normal screen with control of your computer was impossible. The last and only solution was to restart the computer. (I lost few hours of work that day.) So now, that I restart it, I got to the screen saver option again to change it, but how surprise I m to find out that only clicking on screen saver cursor give me the same result as mention above. Since then I just fear to click on that screen saver thing... I can't click on it that I have got to restart my computer. However I still have the possibility to access the power safe option window, I change it for not going on power safe position, but that didn't solve the problem at all. Still have the same result if I click on the screen saver menu. Also If by non attention I leave for to long my computer, it turn to the power safe mode and there is no way to get it back. (It is quiet stressful, to have to be always on guard for you computer that is after all just a machine). I found out the name of the wrong screen saver by trying the same thing with other user's of my computer, it did happen exactly the same thing on them session but as I was aware of the problem I could pick up the name of the wrong screen saver. Also if I m on the lockout menu, which is mean I m not running any session, the screen saver work just fine. By means that after a wile of not using the computer the screen turn off to the power safe mode and, if I touch anything the screen just come back normally from the power safe mode. I thought about the tricky solution to create a new user to who I gave all controls, then deleting my actual session, but I m not quiet sure that's a good solution, and I m confident of the fact that there must be a other much more reasonable way of solving this bug if it as to be name a bug. ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Bug with the Screensaver "Antispotlight" maybe "Antspotlight" https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/297465 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
