I also am experiencing this particular issue. I am running a Core2Duo system, 1GB RAM, compiz, and multiple desktops.
The system seems to run flawlessly during the day, and that includes some periods of when its just sitting idle. However, when I go to bed at night, I shut off the monitor to avoid burn in. When I wake up the next morning, it never fails that its frozen with just the background. ctl- alt-del, or ctrl-atl-F1 have no effect and the system must be hard reset. Today I turned off powernowd, and removed it from the bootup, but I'm not sure that will have any affect, seeing that similar issues of freeze ups seem to be related to AMD processors with powernowd, and not Intel ones. I have noticed a bit of a performance hit when disabling powernowd tho. -- intrepid freezes when idle https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/284057 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
