Public bug reported: I have a ThinkPad T61
After upgrading from 8.04 to 8.10 the fan constantly works at low speed. /proc/acpi/ibm/fan shows enabled and even reports fan speeds (up to 3500), yet I can't detect any changes in speed (and i also think speeds should go higher). Echoing levels to /proc/acpi/ibm/fan changes the values of speed, but there's no physical change. I tried tpfand, fancontrol, the 'watchdog' command. i disabled all before trying the above. The result is that when the laptop has intensive CPU work, its temperature raises (normally it is ~50c) ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New -- fan speed constantly low https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/297048 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
