The C3SL team is working on packaging mdm for Debian and Ubuntu. The package development is still at its initial stage, but you might want to use what we have already done. We're also accepting suggestions, comments and patches.
Also, mdm is still at its initial development stage and not exactly ready to get inside the distros, but as soon as we start releasing stable versions we will also provide good Ubuntu packages. We expect that at somewhere around Februrary mdm will be stable enough to be integrated into the distros.
