nvidia graphics driver 177.80 on geforce 8400 makes fan spin all the time

** Description changed:

+
Powermanager was upgraded Mon Nov 10 and after that fan speed i running
constantly.
Did a BIOS upgrade to A13 on Sun Nov 9 on my DELL xps m1330 and fan was
running really quiet after that, but today Mon Nov 10 updates was released and
it wrecked the fan speed again...

  $ lsb_release -rd
  Description: Ubuntu 8.10
  Release: 8.10

  ~$ apt-cache policy powermanagement-interface
  powermanagement-interface:
    Installed: 0.3.18
    Candidate: 0.3.18
    Version table:
   *** 0.3.18 0
          500 http://archive.ubuntu.com intrepid/main Packages
          100 /var/lib/dpkg/status
  ~$ apt-cache policy powermgmt-base
  powermgmt-base:
    Installed: 1.30
    Candidate: 1.30
    Version table:
   *** 1.30 0
          500 http://archive.ubuntu.com intrepid/main Packages
          100 /var/lib/dpkg/status

I think the problem goes back to the powermanagement as there was a new
included in the update but I am not sure.

** Description changed:

+ Edit 111108:
+ Using nvidia 173.14.12-10ubuntu4 instead of 177.80-0ubuntu2 seems to solve
the fan problem.
