I find Microsoft's non-standard implementation of IMAP on an Exchange 2003 server to be abysmal Your mileage may vary. I'm not sure why accessing your exchange account via OWA would mess up your blackberry delivery. That would mean webmail exchange access (OWA) would also screw it up.
