Public bug reported: Just installed Ubuntu 8.10 (Intrepid) under Wubi within Windows XP Home as a Linux newbie. No problem with Ubuntu as such, but after shutting it down and booting back into Windows the (wired) connection to the router is lost. Windows reports "Network cable unplugged", which is definitely not the case; booting back into Ubuntu reconnects to the router without any problem. When Ubuntu is shutting down, I see the relevant light go out on the router. If I just switch the power off without exiting Ubunutu "properly" the router connection is maintained and all is well in Windows!
My layman's take on this is that there is some kind of script being automatically run during Ubuntu shutdown that switches off the router connection, and which Windows doesn't seem to be able to reverse when it boots up. I was referred here from the Ubuntu forums; it was suggested that this may be a bug. Thanks in anticipation for any thoughts / suggestions. ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Intrepid/XP Router connection lost on shutdown https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/296502 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
