The link that usr provided (KGtk) is, by it's own description, "a quick- and-dirty LD_PRELOAD hack that allows some Gtk applications to use KDE's file dialogs when run under KDE." Therefore I agree that KGtk is a great place to start from, but more work needs to be done. Also, it should be included in Kubuntu by default.
