Thanks a lot for the report. We have fixed it upstream in SVN repository of TeX Live 2008, but do not expect a fix for TeX Live 2007. If you want recent patterns, you need to use a recent TeX distribution or update patterns yourself (it's rather straightforward).
Debian has a rather strict update policy. Any other TeX package shipping with TeX Live 2007 is probably just as ancient as this one. If anyone is willing to do the update, I rather suggest updating to TeX Live 2008 rather than trying to fix package-by-package. The latter can take infinitely long and might introduce numerous problems (when we added the new patterns, pattern memory had to be increased due to much larger number of patterns in the new file; this could fundamentally break TL 2007 if not careful enough). Please tag this bug report either "Fix released" or "Invalid".
