Well, just related to my previous comment (https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg- server/+bug/259808/comments/36), I have to say I spoke too soon. X is continuing to lockup even with Xinerama disabled. It still happens randomly and I cannot reproduce it at all. I lost some work twice already. Now I "cleaned up" my xorg.conf and if it happens again I'll switch composite off. Best of luck with debugging the issue...
