Try installing the binary 0.8.1.6 linuxwacom drivers - no need to compile, and it's reversible. Follow the instructions at https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Wacom and especially https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Wacom/LatestDriver then we can group bugs together (and request an SRU for 0.8.1.6 pretty please ;) ? ).
