I would also like to add a description of what happens. Most of the time when I try put it into sleep mode the screen goes black, and I see the scrambled blue box in the top right hand corner. The blue box is supposed to be the status of the Function keys like "Brightness" and such. At this point the computer does not stop using power, and will not resume normal operations without being hard powered off.
